A life and career transition from an attorney to President and Founder of a small-business:

I thought the road was already paved in front of me – I knew who I was, where I was going and how to get there. However, I wanted to BE more. Wanted to do more in this world. Wanted to achieve my purpose. I wanted to advocate for something I was passionate about, something that I believed in at a core level. This feeling – this energy had been building for some time. What to do? How to get there? Where to begin?

It began on a day in late August 2008.

My Mom and I traveled to the lavender fields in Les Alpes de Haute Provence, France. It had been my dream to see and smell the lavender that I was using to bake with and prepare my own skincare formulations. Even though most of the fields had already been harvested, there were a few remaining fields and some companies were distilling the lavender flowers into essential oil. I have never smelled such a beautiful aroma in the air – it was all enveloping!

Upon returning from Provence, in October 2008, I was sitting in a local teashop enjoying a good cup of tea, journaling and trying to figure out what to do with my life, career, etc. and I “heard” the words: “You need to start a business – an organic skincare business and fund a foundation for women and children around the world.”

Lavande au Soleil was created in 2009 in Denver, Colorado and is French for Lavender in the Sun.

We create organic skincare products using certified organic ingredients from overseas countries, including Argentina, Australia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Ukraine, United States, the West Indies and Zambia.

It is my vision to source our ingredients by working directly with the farmers and growers in each of these countries. As such, I have been learning French, another dream realized, to help with this endeavor.

Lavande au Soleil will use a portion of the profits to establish the Lavande au Soleil Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to empower women overseas through microcredit lending to realize their potential, embrace their dreams and create their own businesses while educating their children.

Lavande au Soleil is the culmination of my three passions – health and wellness, traveling abroad and helping others overseas. Thank you for taking this journey with me and for supporting my dream to help women and children around the world.

I am finally home.
